Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Serves: Makes about 2/3 cup syrup; 1 serving macchiato
Ingredients
- 1 apple, sliced
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup apple juice
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ teaspoon apple pie spice
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons spiced apple syrup
- ¾ cup Wide Awake Coffee Co. Cold Brew Unsweetened Espresso Blend, chilled
- ¼ cup Wide Awake Coffee Co. Salted Caramel Dairy Creamer
- Whipped cream
- Caramel sauce
- Ground cinnamon
- Cinnamon sticks (optional)
Method
- For the apple syrup, simmer the sliced apple, brown sugar, apple juice, water, and spices in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the liquid is reduced by half and is syrupy, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, then strain into a clean jar. Stir in the vanilla.
- To make a macchiato, measure the spiced syrup into a serving glass. Fill the glass with ice, then add the cold brew. Slowly pour the creamer on the coffee (pour it into the glass over the back of a spoon to create a layered effect), then top with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and sprinkle with cinnamon and add a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately.
